SERVICES
Geosol provides a service to the community of Alaska in Mamelodi where our app enables the residents to manage and update the status of their taps, in an effort to try to improve the awareness and availability of fresh water supply within the area.
PROJECTS
Geosol's Tap Management project involves the creation of an app that allows local residents to manage and update the status of the taps within the Alaskan community. This app will show an overview of the taps and their functional status, as well as allowing the locals to request implementation of new taps in new locations.
CLIENTS
Geosol's primary client is the Viva Foundation in Alaska, Mamelodi. The Viva Foundation is making an unbelievable effort in trying to reduce crime and rape within the community. Many of the community members are provided with a panic button that, when pressed, sets off a siren which alerts Viva and the relevant authorities.
ABOUT US
Geosol is a Geographical Information System (GIS) student project team from the University of Pretoria tasked with updating and extending a dataset for the Alaska community within Mamelodi. We aim to produce a web application that maps out the loaction of all the taps in the area, and allows app users to change and update the functional status of these taps within the community which is then displayed on the overview map and color coded according to status.
